Diane webber mermaids of tiberon12/26/2023 ![]() I take it you watched this on the VCI DVD? The main feature actually *is* THE AQUASEX, although the title is MERMAIDS OF TIBURON-NUDE VERSION. My copy had the title of Mermaids of Tiburon copyright 1961 with the movie mostly consisted of pretty girls swimming topless and posing on rocks topless. Below that is a 1981 interview show devoted to belly dancing, and Diane is interviewed along with other students and friends of hers. (And I don't think she has any lines as one of the coven members in THE WITCHMAKER.) She can talk, though! She has speaking lines in the first 2 to 6 minutes of the 1959 Highway Patrol episode below, as an unlucky gas station customer. Since she was playing a mermaid, Diane Webber has no speaking lines in TIBURON, nor does she talk in the VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA episode that she appeared in, also as a mermaid. (A very belated thanks for that info, Tom!) Tom Weaver posted a Variety quote in one of the reference threads above, that says Lamb actually filmed 30 minutes of color, widescreen footage in 1958 with Diane Webber, so that adds to the idea that the film was a long-running pet project of Lamb's. It's too bad Lamb is no longer around to talk about the film, as MERMAIDS almost seems like it was his own "APOCALYPSE NOW," that he kept tooling with and re-editing and re-releasing over the years, in an attempt to create a fantasy-adventure that combined his underwater photography skills, exotic locations, and his glamour-photography experience. ![]() According to the box copy on VCI's DVD release, Lamb then re-edited the film in 1987 to make it as he really wanted it. ![]() Some references give a 1964 release for AQUASEX while others indicate 1968 maybe it was released in both years. Then director John Lamb cut and re-edited the film, added new footage of topless models, and reissued it as AQUASEX. To start, here are links to previous threads for easy reference.Īs has been mentioned, MERMAIDS OF TIBURON was released in 1962 by Filmgroup. This film has been discussed in other threads, but there's never been an official thread created for it in this folder.
